Empties and Review

There are a few products that I have finished up recently so I thought I would do an empties post and do a mini review on each item.
Simple Kind to Skin Facial Cleansing Wipes (varying prices as it's always on offer in either Boots or Superdrug)
The first thing I used up were these Simple wipes which are my favourite ones. They are easy to use and I usually use them to take the bulk of my makeup off. They also don't dry out quickly so I highly recommend them. (Simple also have a version of this for oily skin which I also sometimes use).
Bourjois Paris Volume Glamour Max Holidays Mascara, Boots £5.99
I got this as a gift and I really liked the brush on this mascara, but throughout the day the mascara flaked off onto my face, especially my under eyes and basically ruined my makeup, so I wouldn't recommend it. I tried it a few times and in many different ways, like putting another mascara on top but it just didn't work for me so I won't be repurchasing this.
Soap and Glory Thick and Fast Super Volume Mascara, Boots £10
I finished another mascara which I got for free when i bought an Elle magazine and I must say - this one has to be one of my favourite mascaras that I've tried! The brush is thick and both lengthens and volumises the lashes with minimal work on my part and spreads the lashes easily. I definitely will be repurchasing this in the future.
Elf Matte Lip Colour (not sure of the exact pricing but around £3)
The formula is very creamy which I liked and it doesn't dry out the lips. It has a built in sharpener at the end so the tip stays pointed, which I thought was a clever idea. It also smells good and tastes really like a sweet, something which I haven't encountered in a long time and don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing because I would just unconsciously lick all the product off my lips.

Overall it's a good product however the colour was just not for me - it looked too pale on my lips so I used it with darker lip liners on the bottom or to under darker lip colours to make them look lighter. This particular colour would look better on paler skins and I would repurchase this but in another colour.
Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer, Boots £5.49
There are four shades in total for this concealer which include Ivory, True Ivory, Classic Beige and Soft Beige and is described by Rimmel as having "peptides and a vitamin moisturising complex".

It took me a while to get into this concealer, purely because I somehow managed to pick up the wrong shade, and I can't even remember what the shade was and it must have rubbed off on the packaging. The concealer has a good consistency as it is not too runny but is quite thin and so blends in well. I couldn't use it to cover blemishes  as it was too light so I ended up using it as an eyeshadow base. It creased a little one the eyes but powdering it lightly before applying eyeshadow solved the problem.  I also used it to highlight in my contouring routine however, I didn't really like how it looked directly on my under eye as it didn't look great on dark circles so I used a little on my forehead, nose and chin.
Nivea Lip Balm (around £2)
This is perfect for when you want to add a slight colour your lips but can't be bothered with the precision that is needed for lip liners and lipsticks. As the packaging suggests it has a pearlescent  finish and feels very soft on the lips. It's not the most hydrating lip balm but does the job as it's not sticky or slippery but too much can feel waxy on the lips. A good one to chuck into your bag when you're on the go!

Those were some of the products I have been using recently and I hope you've enjoyed!

Days out: Saatchi Gallery

Follow my blog with Bloglovin
After learning our lesson from going out on the hottest day, we picked a cooler day to head out to Sloane Square and visit the Saatchi Gallery. It has free entry and has more modern and abstract pieces, but which were definitely thought provoking.
(Plastic bags piled together)

I couldn't go into this room, it creeped me out too much so one of my friends took the plunge (still can't look at it for too long)

One of my friends titled this 'how we felt during A Levels'

This was one of my favourite pieces; a 3D tree hanging from the ceiling

I definitely recommend checking it out as it has a nice laid back atmosphere. We didn't spend too long at the gallery but there are benches outside to sit and relax. There are many cafes and eating places a few minutes away and the gallery itself is very close to the station, which is a bonus!

Hope you enjoyed!

Mini Haul and Review: Makeup Revolution

There's a reason that I always tell myself not to sign up to makeup related sites; I can never resist the urge to shop! (Shout out to my best friend/makeup buddy who speed dials my number the instant an offer goes on and does damage to my bank account). Recently I ordered a few bits from the brand Makeup Revolution. It took them about a week to dispatch my order and everything was packaged neatly in bubble wrap.

This is a drugstore brand that specialises in making dupes for high end products. They are very affordable and can be found exclusively in Superdrug. They usually have offers online, when I placed my order they were giving away a free Makeup Geek Eyeshadow Palette with every order over £10, so definitely follow them on Instagram and sign up to their newsletter to stay updated!
Iconic 2 Palette, £4

Iconic 3 Palette, £4
The first thing I added to my basket were the Iconic 2 and Iconic 3 palettes, both of which I had heard great reviews about. These are meant to be dupes for the Urban Decay Naked 2 and 3 palettes. They also have the Iconic 1 palette which is the dupe for the Naked 1 palette which in the end I decided not to get.

For a drugstore brand, they are quite pigmented and the colours blend well. From the photos and reviews I have seen, the colours are very close to the original Naked palettes so I'm really happy with them. I find myself reaching for the Iconic 3 palette more as I love using golds, pinks and purples on my eyelids.
Makeup Geek Palette, £7.99

This is the Makeup Geek eyeshadow palette which is normally £7.99 but was free with my order. I must say - I'm in love with it! There are 36 shades all together and the colours are mostly shimmery with a few matte shades - but all are very pigmented and creamy. It also has a mirror which is a plus.  A pop of colour added to my collection!
Powder Blush in Sugar, £1

The next thing I got was this blusher in the colour Sugar. It's one of those colours that suits many skin tones and is suitable for everyday wear. Again, it's highly pigmented - however it is a little chalky, especially  if too much is worn but for £1 I'm not complaining!

Amazing Lipstick in Treat, £1

The last thing I got online was the Amazing Lipstick in the colour Treat. For me this is a colour that's "my lips but better"  and is also very moisturising so keeps the lips hydrated. It's slightly sheer so is buildable and the colour will go with many looks. It also has a small pot at the end of the lid with extra product.
Vivid Baked Highlighter in Golden Lights, £3

After hearing many good reviews about it, I picked up the Vivid Baked Highlighter in Golden Lights a couple of days later in store. Personally I love using golden highlighters as it matches my yellow undertoned skin so this is perfect. The tiniest amount is needed to bring together any look and it blends in like a dream!

I will definitely be trying out more things from this brand, and definitely recommend checking their products out - they have some high quality dupes for high end products and for a fraction of the price!
Hope you've enjoyed!

Eyebrows on #FLEEK

Eyebrows can change the shape of the face and they're one of the favourite parts to do in my makeup routine - if I was allowed to use only one makeup product it would be to fill in my eyebrows. I have black hair so naturally I choose to use cool ash toned grey colours to fill them in.

I usually get my eyes professionally threaded every 6 - 8 weeks and use tweezers and an eyebrow razor to clean them up whenever needed.

I got mine in a pack of three from Amazon and it's really inexpensive. It's easy to use and I just brush the razor lightly over the areas where I want to get rid of the hairs.

To prep my eyebrows, all I do is use a spooly to comb through the hairs. I then draw in a faint line on the bottom of my eyebrows about 1cm in from the start to define and give it some shape. I don't usually draw a line on the top as it looks the most natural when I don't. I then start filling my brows with light strokes starting from the inside of my brows and working my way out. I go back to the start afterwards and round it out with a light hand to create a slight gradient and fill in sparse areas.

Now to the fun part; what I use to fill them in. I currently have three different products that I change between regularly, depending on how I feel.

Seventeen Brow Sculpting Pencil, Boots £2.89

An eyebrow pencil is my most used product - it's quick and easy to use on a daily basis.

Collection Work the Colour Blonde Eyebrow Kit, Boots $3.99

With the Collection eyebrow kit, I use the black colour to draw on the bottom line for my brows and use the lightest colour on my brow bone to define it more (I use the middle colour more as an eyeshadow). The brow gel is really good, it keeps everything in place but doesn't make the hairs stiff.

Anastasia Beverly Hill Dip Brow Pomade, £15 and ELF Small Angled Brush £3

Everyone had been raving about the ABH dip brow pomade and I finally succumbed. I bought it in ash brown which is a cool toned grey/almost black colour. I use it with the ELF small angled brush. It's very velvety and smooth and the littlest amount is needed so the pot will last me a long time.

Eyebrows are personal preference, and there is no right or wrong way to do them. Hope you enjoyed!

Days out: Somerset House

On one of the hottest July summer days in England, myself and two of my friends thought it would be an amazing idea to take a trip to Somerset House. Don't get me wrong - the exhibitions and building were amazing - but what we didn't expect was the very looong bus ride on the way back. With the weather being 33oC. And bumper to bumper traffic. Oh and no windows that would open. Not an experience any of us will be forgetting (or repeating) any time soon.

For both journeys there and back we took the 15 bus, which took us straight to our location (you can also take the tube there and get off at Temple station).

After being wonderstruck over the building, we finally entered to go into the exhibits, which mostly contained artwork from various artists as well as different objects.

My favourite exhibit by far was by The Unseen Emporium, who fuse science and design together to create beautiful pieces. They have a special ink that they coat their pieces with including curtains, a dress, pens and books; it looks black but actually changes colour in response to the temperature!

We were told that they would be coming out with a jewellery line soon and sportswear somewhere in the future which I am very excited to see.

I would definitely recommend visiting Somerset House, even if to just sit and relax outside, although I wouldn't recommend taking the bus with no windows on the hottest day of July(!)

Hope you enjoyed!
