On one of the hottest July summer days in England, myself
and two of my friends thought it would be an amazing idea to take a trip to
Somerset House. Don't get me wrong - the exhibitions and building were amazing
- but what we didn't expect was the very looong bus ride on the way back. With
the weather being 33oC. And bumper to bumper traffic. Oh and no
windows that would open. Not an experience any of us will be forgetting (or
repeating) any time soon.
For both journeys there and back we took the 15 bus, which
took us straight to our location (you can also take the tube there and get off
at Temple station).
After being wonderstruck over the building, we finally entered
to go into the exhibits, which mostly contained artwork from various artists as
well as different objects.
My favourite exhibit by far was by The Unseen Emporium, who fuse science and design together to create beautiful pieces.
They have a special ink that they coat their pieces with including curtains, a dress, pens and books; it looks black but
actually changes colour in response to the temperature!
We were told that they would be coming out with a jewellery line soon and sportswear somewhere in the future which I am very excited to see.
I would definitely recommend visiting Somerset House, even
if to just sit and relax outside, although I wouldn't recommend taking the bus with
no windows on the hottest day of July(!)
Hope you enjoyed!
